Vectorising the web

Traditionally graphics on websites have consisted of bitmaps but now we have SVG vectors.

What are the benefit? Well, bitmaps are static and of a fixed resolution. If you display them at a different size to what they were made for they go soft. You can't do anything  to change the contents of a bitmap apart from cropping it or filtering it. Vectors are different. They are pictures made of shapes, fills and filters. They are pin-sharp at any resolution and you can mess around with the contents.

We can design SVG graphics, animate them, make them respond to user input, integrate them with your CMS, produce SVG from your data (e.g. for graphs or maps).

This site

This site was designed heavily with vector graphics. The animated background is vectors, the icons across the top are vectors. All the animation on this site is done inside the SVG without Javascript (using SMIL). Some animations are done by hand, others are automatically inserted by the SVG extensions we've written for Joomla CMS.
